Huntington Beach, CA

Where the Sky Meets the Sea

A master bath drawn entirely from the view outside the window.

The homeowners didn't want a bathroom that merely referenced the beach, they wanted one that felt like an extension of it. So the design starts with color pulled straight from their view: navy cabinetry drawn from the deep water offshore, and champagne-

gold fixtures that mirror the way sunlight breaks across the surface at high tide. A mosaic backsplash shimmers along the vanity wall like sunlight on the ocean's surface, and the dual-sink vanity extends in an L-shape toward a glass-enclosed steam shower, its back wall custom-tiled in a gradient of blues that pour top to bottom like water in motion, an ode to the husband's request for a shower that felt like standing under a waterfall. Turn on the steam and the whole enclosure fills with the same soft mist that hangs over the coastline on early mornings. A freestanding soaking tub anchors the room beneath a peaked window framed

in a simple woven roman shade, keeping the focus on the coastal light outside rather than the window treatment itself. Brushed-gold widespread faucets and hardware run throughout, a steady thread of warmth against all that blue.
