Hush and Hideaway
A study in softness and surprise
Set in a peaceful corner of the home, this nursery was designed to feel like a held breath: soft, still and just a little bit magical. Powder-pink walls and a plush blush rug set the tone, while crisp white board-and-batten millwork and custom built-ins give the room gentle structure. A cream wingback glider and matching ottoman invite slow mornings and slower nights, equal parts nursing chair, reading nook and resting place.
But the real surprise lives in the millwork. One of the panels along the wall isn't a panel at all. It's a hidden door, leading to a secret room I discovered while walking the home during design. Tucked beside her father's office, the space is now a hideaway just for their daughter: a future play fort, reading den or retreat of her own as she grows. It's a small bit of architectural whimsy, the kind of detail that turns a house into a story.
Every element here was chosen with care: built-ins that grow with the family, a palette that soothes without being fussy, and a secret that belongs to her alone.
